Distributed Power & Generation

Deploying clean, reliable power technology, anywhere

Intelligent Energy fuel cell systems provide an opportunity to both reduce operating costs and increase environmental performance relative to what is possible with traditional diesel generators.

A readily available supply of energy is taken for granted in the modern world. When faced with grid failure, the need to supply reliable backup power is imperative to reduce loss of revenue and to keep critical systems operating.

Existing grid-replacement and backup power technologies currently utilise batteries and generators operating on diesel, propane or gasoline. There are increasing concerns with these methods of power provision, leading to customers seeking out alternatives that provide better reliability and are more cost effective when considering total cost of operation and ownership.

Intelligent Energy fuel cell power systems offer longer continuous runtime and greater durability in harsh outdoor environments under a wide range of temperature conditions.

Applications include:

  • Wireless base stations
  • Telecom rooftop applications
  • Wireline communication networks
  • Emergency communication systems
  • Radio repeaters
  • Flight guidance systems
  • Microwave communications
  • Surveillance and security
  • Transportation network communications

In 2013 Intelligent Energy formed a wholly owned Indian operating business, Essential Energy, to address the growing gap between supply and demand of energy in India and to provide a route to market for Intelligent Energy’s fuel cell technology. Essential Energy is headquartered in Bangalore and is focused on distributed power and generation, initially targeting the Indian telecom infrastructure market to deliver clean, efficient and reliable energy to keep mobile networks connected.
