Acid rain is a huge problem around the world. It leads to the death of rivers and lakes and is responsible for a large amount of deforestation. Sulphur emissions are the main contributing factor in the formation of acid rain. In addition to environmental damage, atmospheric sulphur, in the form of sulphur dioxide, is also responsible for respiratory ill health, making it a major problem for energy providers and users.
Intelligent Energy is developing desulphurisation technologies which can provide solutions for the distributed and cost effective removal of sulphur from a range of fuels, which in addition to producing cleaner fuel for conventional use also enable a wide range of fuels for conversion into pure hydrogen.
