Background and history
Nobody could have predicted the magnitude of the world’s overwhelmingly positive reaction to ENV before it launched in the Spring of 2005. Here is just some of its history and background.
Tuesday, 15th March 2005 ENV was launched to universal acclaim at the Design Museum in London. Initially intended purely as a technology demonstrator, ENV was nevertheless the world’s first purpose designed and built, hydrogen fuel cell-powered motorbike. ![]() The media and public reaction was so great that ENV rapidly came into demand for appearances all over the world, making trailblazing appearances in the United Kingdom, Monaco, Belgium, Korea, Norway, Japan and North America – to name just a few of the countries. ![]() Two prototypes were built for the launch – one black, the other pearlescent white. ![]() Part of ENV’s unique appeal is its removable Core – in effect, the fuel cell power pack – which can be used to provide clean energy for other things.
