Charitable Trust application terms and conditions

To be eligible to apply for a donation, your charity or organisation must comply with the following criteria:

  • Beneficiary organisations must be located within and principally benefit people who live or operate in the Charnwood borough
  • The minimum amount that can be applied for is £1000 and the maximum amount is £25,000 per annum
  • Applicants do not have to have registered charitable status but donations from the Trust will be made to those who meet the Charity Commission Criteria (https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/charity-commission/about/publication-scheme)
  • The funds applied for must be able to meet the whole cost of the project and must only be used for the project you have detailed in your application
  • Funds donated must be claimed within a three-month period of applicant receiving notification of successful award

In particular, the Intelligent Energy Charitable Trust will seek to award donations to charities and organisations that support and help:

  • Children and young people
  • People with disabilities
  • Lifelong learning
  • Community and social development
  • Sports and leisure
  • Alleviation of hardship
  • Neglected or abandoned animals

We are especially interested in projects with the capacity to deliver significant impact and which reach the greatest number of people.

The Trust will not support applications that are made by, or include, the following:

  • Organisations seeking funds to redistribute to other charities
  • Political or religious organisations and campaigns
  • Purchase of tables at charity fundraisers or boxes for sporting events and other similar corporate hospitality
  • Sponsorship of individuals or groups participating in sponsored events
  • Provision of prizes for raffles or draws
  • Administration costs involved in charitable projects

We may want to feature successful applicants as a case study on the Intelligent Energy website, or as part of our PR activity. Unless applicants specifically note ‘no publicity’ on the application form, the assumption will be that the successful applicants are happy to participate.
