About the role

Working as part of the Product Development team, you will apply Electrical and Electronics engineering skills to lead the design and development of commercial products for use in applications ranging from small portable power devices to motive and industrial power systems.

You will be responsible for the delivery of work packages and implementation of engineering expertise in the electrical and electronic design aspects of fuel cell control systems.

You will ensure work packages are delivered on time, to a high-quality standard and in line with the commercial, technical and safety requirements and that they comply with all relevant National, European, and International standards on electrical and electronic circuit and system design.

You will be able to mentor and provide guidance to more junior members of the Electronics team.

You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of the Electronics team processes and procedures.

About you

You will be able to demonstrate experience of leading a team to deliver work packages applying the V model and/or other design methodologies, alongside experience of the application of DfX principles.

You will have a proven depth of experience and competence designing component level electronics schematic design, as well as demonstrable experience and competence designing high reliability, highly robust PCBAs to National, European and International Standards.  Knowledge of schematic capture using industry standard tools is essential, ideally with experience of Altium.

Design experience of multi-layer power, analogue and digital PCBs with thermal management and EMC consideration is vital, as is knowledge of PCBA manufacture techniques and the associated design requirements both for prototyping and for volume production.

It is key to us that you have a commercial mindset and the ability to work with a flexible and solutions focused approach, in an agile and fast paced environment.  You must also be able to work collaboratively with a cross-functional team alongside both technical and non-technical colleagues.  As such, excellent communication skills are vital.
