About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the IE team and to apply your passion for Mechanical Design to lead the design and development of our fuel cell products. 

Working as part of a cross-functional team, you will be responsible for the on-time delivery of designs and documentation detailing parts and assemblies of appropriate manufacturability against a set of customer requirements.  You will check & sign-off peer-derived engineering documentation.

You will ensure that engineering best practice, including DfX principles are incorporated into the product development lifecycle.  You will contribute towards the long-term mechanical design strategy to standardise, simplify and modularise our products.

About you

You will have extensive previous product development experience.  It is key that you have a commercial mindset and the ability to work with a flexible and solutions focused approach, in an agile and fast paced environment.  You must also be able to work collaboratively with a cross-functional team alongside both technical and non-technical colleagues.  As such, excellent communication skills are vital.

You will hold a BEng, BSc (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, or possess an appropriate non-degree level qualification alongside suitable industrial experience. 

You will have in-depth experience of structured design process methodologies, with a proven track record of implementing DfX principles.  You will be proficient in the use of a 3D parametric CAD package, SolidWorks preferred, covering modelling parts, assemblies and drafting engineering drawings. You will have knowledge of implementing and leading plant schematics & FMEAs.

A proven track record of defining and delivering sub-systems and/or full products and of technical leadership of a team are also essential.

What we offer

The salary on offer for this position is up to £54,000 per annum based on skills and experience.

This role is based on site in our Loughborough facility.
