Intelligent Energy launches mobile hydrogen fuel cell power unit to replace diesel generators

Loughborough, UK – 06 October 2026 – Intelligent Energy (IE) has launched the IE-GRID™ 4 mobile hydrogen fuel cell generator, delivering a zero-emission replacement for diesel generators widely used across construction sites, infrastructure projects and temporary power applications.
Designed for off-grid environments, IE-GRID 4 combines a fuel cell, battery, inverter and control system in a single, deployment-ready unit occupying less than one square metre.
Built for demanding temporary power applications, the system can power site equipment, CCTV and security systems, communications infrastructure, outdoor events, film and television production, catering facilities, and battery charging for tools and equipment.
The system can deliver up to 3.5kW of continuous power, with peak output of up to 6kW supported by an integrated battery. At the point of use, it’s only direct emissions are water and heat, eliminating diesel exhaust fumes, nitrogen oxides, sulphur oxides and particulate matter.
Operating significantly more quietly than conventional diesel generators, IE-GRID 4 is particularly suited to noise-sensitive locations, including urban environments, residential areas, public spaces and film production sets.
