160kW from a single auto fuel cell stack

Loughborough – 30th August 2022 – Intelligent Energy is celebrating a milestone achievement today (30 August) having seen one of its iconic products reach the landmark figure of 160kW.

Breaking the 150kW barrier has been a longstanding target for IE’s trademark fuel cell ‘stack’. At over 200 BHP, this is more power than the typical family car.

Hydrogen fuel cells are becoming commonplace in vehicles all round the world. At Intelligent Energy, we are proud to be a part of the journey to a zero-carbon future. With our true bipolar patented designs, we are able to combine high power with shorter stacks and smaller heat exchangers.

As the world economy moves towards decarbonising transport, our order book is ever-increasing, and we are looking at how we can service this additional demand. We have already held exploratory talks with the UK government to build a Gigafactory in the East Midlands, and are progressing negotiations with government stakeholders in Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic where demand for our technology could not be higher.

The use of hydrogen and fuel cells within the automotive market is not just an idea or concept anymore, but a real-life solution to achieving net zero on the roads.
